How to uplevel your mindset to allow more abundance into your life

Jan 12, 2023

If there was a mindset you could adopt that would improve your life in several different ways at once, would you try it out? A mindset that could allow you to tackle problems in a relaxed, confident, and calm manner instead of feeling tense, afraid, and short of breath. The abundance mindset makes this possible. This mindset will put you in the driver's seat of your life and allow you to think expansively.

To really understand what an abundance mindset is we need to know what the opposite of an abundance mindset is, which is a scarcity mindset. When you’re thinking in terms of scarcity, you're more likely to feel as if you're in the passenger seat of your life. You don't feel like you have any control, you'll feel like you can't achieve anything meaningful, and life happens to you without you having any say in it. You’re always thinking your cup is half empty instead of half full. And this affects how you show up in the world. This is precisely the type of mindset that we don't want you to have, so let's look at how you can bring abundance into your life to help you achieve success in all areas of your life.

Pay attention to your thoughts

We often disregard thoughts as just thoughts, but they are more powerful than we realize. Let's start with a simple but sad example of how thoughts can change our mindset. If you think enough sad, depressing, and pessimistic thoughts on a regular and consistent basis... you could find yourself spiraling into a depressed mindset. But if you look on the bright side, you’ll always find something to appreciate in every situation. If it works one way, it works the other too. So with the power of only your thoughts you can begin to change your mindset from its current state to an abundant state!

Your first step towards being able to change your mindset is to make a conscious effort to recognize what thoughts you are having on a regular basis. The main thoughts, important thoughts, and thoughts that you find keep cropping up on a daily basis. We advise writing them down or as many as you can. After you've written your thoughts down, ask yourself what these thoughts are based on. Are your thoughts based on fear and scarcity? Or are these thoughts based on openness and abundance? Only when you've asked yourself this question will you know where you are currently operating from. Then you can decide on which action you should take to shift all your thoughts further in the direction of abundance.

Practice gratitude

Practicing gratitude might sound light and fluffy. Like something you can do by just saying "thanks" after getting what you want. Although that is something you should actively do, practicing gratitude goes a little further than that. Let's zoom out for a second and realize that when you read this blog on your phone, laptop, or desktop, you're using highly complex machinery connected to more complex systems that didn't even exist 30 years ago. Then consider the fact that we can travel the world in relative peace and safety, while ordering products from other countries that arrive in next to no time. All of this was designed so you could live in more abundance than those who came before you.

Realizing what has gone into your life from people you don't know, and people you do know and have played a major role in your life and shaping your development can change your perspective hugely. A good practice is to write down in a journal the thing that you are most grateful for every day. You might find you get stuck at certain points, but there will be things that you have forgotten to include in the journal that you take for granted on a daily basis. This practice will challenge you to always look for the positives in every situation. Let’s have an example… Think about a time when you went camping with friends. (If you've never been, try it 😅.) It's lots of fun, without a doubt, but there's no warm shower, WiFi, comfy bed, aircon or heating, or a proper roof over your head. Focusing on these parts of the experience could cause you to have a negative time. Yet when you take a moment to recognize the positives, you really immerse yourself in the beauty of it: being able to be close to nature, being forced to slow down and spend quality time with people, your basic needs (like water, food, and shelter) being covered. So if you get stuck and are feeling down, remember the little things in life. Recognize you already have abundance, and that will lift your mood and attract more good things into your life.

The sky's the limit, so aim high

If you go through life with a tunnel vision mentality, only focusing on one thing. You might find that you'll miss the amazing opportunities that are right in front of you. It's much better to keep your eyes open to the opportunities surrounding you and, therefore, your mind open. Closed minds will struggle to see the value in opportunities that don't quite fit your vision of success. Believe that the sky's the limit, and be open to making your way there by taking advantage of a diverse range of opportunities. The wider the scope of the opportunities you use to reach your goals, the more of an abundance mindset you will attain.

Share your passions with others

What's your passion? Do you have a talent or something that you really excel at? If you can't think of something, then you probably haven't thought hard enough because everyone is really good at something. Once you’ve identified what that is, ask yourself: do you share it with other people? If you answered no, that is the next step for you to take. Sharing your passion with others will build your confidence, and confidence is one of the key factors you will need to have to build a mindset of abundance.

Let's not also forget sharing your passion with others is also a fantastic way to bring people joy, value, and abundance. This could also be the very beginning of establishing your brand and an online presence too as you continue to share your passions with others. You will find more abundance will enter into your life in the form of new opportunities and collaborations. Not to mention the fact that you will meet others with similar passions you can also learn from to better master your expertise and grow.

Create and write down mastery experiences

A mastery experience is what you feel after accomplishing something. Creating as many of these experiences as possible will continuously spur you to do more, do better, learn new skills, and achieve more goals. This is also a great motivator to help you reach success, as the memory of previous master experiences will serve as a constant reminder that you can achieve anything. To make that reminder clear and more tangible, write down your mastery experiences. When these experiences are written down, you can return to your journal and read through your previous experiences and remember how it felt to achieve your goals, no matter how big or small they are.

Speak with abundance, not scarcity

Earlier we spoke about recognizing our thoughts and how they affect our mindset. Without realizing it, we can speak scarcity into our reality. We should also choose our words wisely because the stories we share with others can affect their mindset too. A classic example to watch out for in your own dialogue with others would be stories where you speak about things you can't achieve but desire. So look out for the words ‘I can’t’ in particular. Try to catch yourself before the words leave your mouth and only speak from a position of possibility. Remember that with the right mindset, anything is possible!

Start with a growth mindset

A growth mindset is when you adopt a can-do attitude towards challenges and obstacles. Your decisions are not stifled by fear of failure. You instead try out new things and learn from your failure because you recognize in your mind that failure is a way of learning something new and another step forward on the path towards growth. Failure is a simple way of informing you that what you tried didn't work. The good news is that you can now try something different. You can look at what you did and find out why it didn't work and even share this with others so they don't have to make the same mistake you made.

Talk to people about their outlook on life, and ask them what their goals are. Ask how and why they chose to do what they've done the way they did it. You never know. They might just have something to offer you that you never thought of doing and give you a skill or outlook you didn't know you needed until now. This is an excellent mindset to adopt if you're seeking to gain a mindset of abundance, as both an abundance mindset and a growth mindset will work hand in hand to help you achieve success.

Don't be afraid to be a beginner

An abundance mindset is a mentality that craves and thirsts for new knowledge and skills. Gaining new knowledge and skills will equip you with the tools to be able to do new, interesting, and exciting things, and you will find abundance will follow with every new lesson learned. Sadly, as we get older, we tend to become more afraid of the world. We become fearful of failure and humiliation.

Sometimes people think because they're no longer teenagers that they can't get away with starting something as a beginner. But it's simply not true. Nobody should leave school, college, or university and stop learning if they want to have an abundant life. When we stop learning, we stop growing. How can we live a life of abundance when we aren't learning anything new? You must be willing to become a beginner before you become a master.

Pay attention to the good things in your life

As honorary members of the human race, we are sadly predisposed to notice the negative things in life. But we're less inclined to notice when things are going well for us. You could almost say we take the good times for granted. This is a natural part of the human condition as our body is primed for threat detection, and even though today we live relatively comfortable lives, our body still wants to know if this negative thing that's going on will take us out of the game completely.

So your body is just doing its job, but isn't that the perfect excuse to notice when life is good around you? Isn't that the perfect reason to stop every now and to just take a moment, appreciate it and carry on your day with a smile? Try to enjoy the joy in your life when it pops its head up. Intentionally soak up the good times! And don’t forget to share the good times with others. Joy is made to be shared with others. It's contagious. Noticing that "life isn't so bad" is a big step in creating an abundance mindset that will inevitably lead you to success.

Hope this helps,
